Anne Savage interview Bexta following her remix of 'Release Me'

Tuesday, 8th June 2010

‘Release Me’ is set to be one of the biggest collaborations of the year with an underlying tech feel combined with an infectious vocal. The remix package is not to be taken lightly with 3 unique mixes lined up spread over 2 releases! First up on the remix we bring more girl power than the Spice Girls with Australia's most popular female dj Bexta stepping up to add her unique twist on this epic production. Bexta adds a saw bassline, soaring hard trance chord stab’s and an energetic triplet section into her mix! Already ripping up floors all over Australia!

Hi Bexta,

Thanks for the brilliant job on the remix for me. It's going down a storm, a few questions for you here to help people in the UK get an idea of what you're about
Thanks for the opportunity for this remix - it was a blast!

1. Where are you from in Australia?
I'm originally from Sydney but am currently living in Melbourne.

2. What's the club/rave scene like over there, and seeing as the cities are so far apart, do you fly a lot to your gigs?
The club scene is pretty good here. We go thru good times and bad, like anywhere i guess. Yes the cities are so far apart - I spend every week at the airport, I really never drive to gigs unless they're in Melbourne. Some weekends I've flown for 13 hours just to get to the next gig, and I'm still in Oz!

3. Where else do you play and what are your plans this summer?
I tour continuously across Australia - it's such a big place, and once I've finished touring I pretty much start again! I've got residencies in all the capital cities and do regionals as well, so I'm pretty much always on tour. It's funny, if I have a week without going to the airport, i get itchy feet now! I've also played in the UK, Canada, Indonesia, China and parts of Asia, New Zealand, New Caledonia amongst others. We've just hit winter here so Melbourne is freezing right now. I even thought i might come over and defrost in Ibiza this year!

4.What would you say is the best thing about being a dj in OZ? Why/ where should UK clubbers go visit?
I love traveling and it's such a big part of being a dj here. Also,I think Australia still has a healthy hard dance scene, and we're always up for some banging tunes! My fav club in Oz is "Family" in Brisbane - definitely worth a look. It's a great set up, great people who work there, and always wicked crowds! I think every international DJ that hits our shores plays or has played at Family. I would also recommend doing the summer festivals here - we're so blessed with great weather, there's no other way to celebrate music with 20,000+ of your closest friends!

What the rest of the industry say about Release Me..

The two leading ladies of the hard dance scene head back into the studio after recent anthems such as 'You're Not Alone' for a release on Anne's Siren Trax label which I would highly recommend!
10/10 - Kutski

I like both versions but in particular the original - i like the voice
Luca Antolini

I love this and cant wait to make things happen on trackitdown :-)
Ed Real

The original gets the nod. Really good galloping percussion, keys ,and vocals. A solid 4 out of 5 crumpets!
Jon Bishop - USA

Thanks for the tune, love it!
Rob Tissera

The vocals are wicked and without doubt my favorite track I've heard this year, but I don't think Anne and Lisa would deliver no less.
Dave Mac (Harderfaster)
